Preview of the Right to Play Case Study

Nonprofit uses technology to expand play based programming for youth in Africa, the Middle East and Asia

Right To Play is a global nonprofit that uses play‑based programs to improve education, health and life skills for vulnerable children across Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Serving 1.9 million children with nearly 32,000 volunteer teachers and coaches, the organization struggled with fragmented, manual systems—Excel and Word files—that made it hard to track volunteers, measure program impact, manage donor pledges, or get basic operational answers quickly. Rapid growth exposed the need for a digital transformation to improve data accuracy and operational efficiency.

With a Microsoft technology grant, Right To Play began implementing Office 365, Dynamics 365 Business Central (and CRM) and Power BI to centralize field data entry, automate finance and donor workflows, and create visual reports for staff and donors. The solution is expected to halve the time staff spend seeking information, cut finance workload by about 60 percent, improve donor transparency and boost fundraising, and free program teams to spend more time with children—accelerating impact such as increased girls’ classroom participation and other measurable learning and wellbeing gains.
