A Microsoft Dynamics 365 Case Study
Kotahi, a New Zealand-based supply chain collaborator for exporters, faced the challenge of manually forecasting demand for shipping container capacity using error-prone Excel spreadsheets. This slow, four-day monthly process was only 80% accurate and prevented staff from analyzing data for insights. To optimize logistics for perishable goods and match the right ship size to demand, they turned to vendor Microsoft and its Cortana Intelligence Suite.
Microsoft, with partner UXC Eclipse, implemented an automated demand-forecasting solution using Azure Machine Learning and Power BI. This reduced the forecasting process from four days to just 30 minutes and increased accuracy from 80% to over 90%. For Kotahi, this resulted in an estimated $1 million in annual supply chain savings and freed up staff to perform valuable data analysis.
