The Uttar Pradesh Police, which serves 220 million people across 75 districts and more than 1,500 stations, faced fragmented, under-resourced emergency response with long and uneven Dial 100 response times—especially in rural and economically poor areas. Decentralized control meant many calls went unanswered or were slow to result in dispatches, limiting access to timely police help for vulnerable citizens.
To fix this, the force launched UP 100, a centralized statewide contact center built on Microsoft solutions and deployed in 11 months to handle about 100,000 calls daily. The system processes calls in roughly three minutes, supports 17,000 daily dispatches (up from 3,700), manages a growing fleet of vehicles, and integrates with other emergency services; results include faster response times, reduced crime and suicides, 82% citizen satisfaction, and greater public trust and accountability.
