A Microsoft Dynamics 365 Case Study
Gasum is a state-owned Nordic energy company that imports natural gas and runs 12 biogas plants, positioning itself as a leader in sustainable energy and the circular economy. Rapid growth through acquisitions left the company with heavily tailored, on-premises ERP systems across Finland, Sweden and Norway, while changing regulations and a push into energy trading made harmonised, scalable infrastructure a critical priority.
Gasum replaced its legacy AX-2012 landscape with cloud-based Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Finance & Operations and Sales), working with partner Digia to migrate applications in sprint cycles and standardise processes across business units. The move delivered faster finance consolidation, lower integration and operating costs, easier scalability for acquisitions or restructurings, reduced IT staffing needs (now one dedicated ERP person), and a platform for analytics and better trading and operational decisions—freeing the company to focus on growth and its carbon-neutral mission.
