Arbor Memorial, a Canadian funeral and cemetery services provider with about 2,500 employees and 120 locations, needed a more portable way for its Pre-planning Directors to meet families. Directors were carrying heavy 17-inch laptops, portable printers, and printed materials to homes and community events, creating friction for both staff and customers.

Arbor deployed Microsoft Surface Pro 3 tablets integrated with Windows 8.1, Office 365/OneDrive, and Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online (200 devices initially, with more planned). The tablets streamlined appointments, improved the family experience with features like pinch-to-zoom and stylus input, reduced service-desk calls by simplifying IT administration, and positioned the company to adopt future capabilities such as digital signatures and mobile payments.
