Case Study: Willis Towers Watson achieves faster developer agility and stronger cloud security with Microsoft Dynamics 365

A Microsoft Dynamics 365 Case Study

Preview of the Willis Towers Watson Case Study

Embracing the public cloud for greater agility and security

Willis Towers Watson, a global advisory and insurance solutions firm with 40,000 employees, faced fragmented development environments and disparate toolsets after a merger, leaving geographically distributed teams slow and inconsistent. The Risk Software and Technology Solutions group needed greater agility, tighter security, and faster provisioning to meet customer timelines while retaining on‑premises systems only where required by regulation.

The team centralized development on Microsoft Azure and Visual Studio Team Services, using Azure AD sync, ExpressRoute, disk encryption, multifactor authentication, and automated JSON templates for self‑provisioning. The move cut environment provisioning from weeks to hours, consolidated 150 developers on VSTS with 55 test and 20 production servers in Azure, improved work‑item tracking and security posture, and reduced costs by paying only for used infrastructure—enabling faster delivery and more innovation.
