E-Health Provider Uses Cloud Solution to Significantly Cut Costs and Improve Service

Stat Health Services, a 12-employee e-health provider behind the Stat Doctors telemedicine service, connects patients with board-certified doctors via video and phone for minor conditions. After launching on physical servers in 2010, the system suffered outages and could not scale affordably to meet growing demand, threatening service quality and the company’s goal of cutting healthcare costs.

Working with Microsoft partner Business & Decision, Stat Health rebuilt Stat Doctors on Microsoft Azure (and later moved email to Office 365 and CRM to Dynamics CRM Online), achieving HIPAA-compliant deployment. The move avoided about $170,000 in upfront infrastructure costs, eliminated $3,000/month video conferencing fees, enabled adding 4,000 companies in two days, produced an average patient wait time of eight minutes, delivered 98% patient satisfaction and helped clients (one saved ~$115,000 in 2011) reduce healthcare costs.
