Case Study: Decmil achieves a connected mobile workforce and paperless operations with Microsoft Dynamics 365

A Microsoft Dynamics 365 Case Study

Preview of the Decmil Case Study

Decmil no longer finds distance a disadvantage with cloud

Decmil Australia, an ASX‑listed engineering and construction specialist serving the oil, gas and resources sectors, faced the tyranny of distance with a large workforce spread across remote mining sites. Heavy reliance on paper records, manual timesheets, long commutes, patchy network connectivity and site‑specific Land Access Rules made collaboration, compliance and timely reporting difficult, while safety and quality processes were slow and labour‑intensive.

Working with Microsoft partner Ignia and using Microsoft cloud services hosted in local Azure datacentres, Decmil deployed a mobile, offline‑capable solution built around the Site Diary app, Office 365 (SharePoint/OneDrive), Dynamics CRM Online and Power BI. Mobile devices and apps like Maps & Rules and Files & Forms replaced paper, created digital audit trails, eliminated daily courier runs, sped up timesheet and ITR processing, and made safety and site documentation instantly accessible—resulting in a more productive, compliant and data‑informed mobile workforce.
