Uklon is a Kyiv-headquartered internet taxi service operating in ten major Ukrainian cities that faced intense competition from global and regional rivals and a fragmented local pricing system. Because Ukrainian cabs have no standard fares, customers often had to “bid up” at busy times—a slow, unreliable process that reduced completed bookings and customer satisfaction.
Working with SMART Business, Uklon deployed Microsoft Azure AI and Machine Learning to power an automated fare-suggestion algorithm that factors in time of day, traffic, distance and past accepted fares. The solution raised instant fare acceptance to 75%, increased successful bookings by 18% at peak times, boosted Uklon’s Net Promoter Score to 30 (while a major competitor fell to 22), and positioned the company to scale the model into additional cities.
