SnelStart, a Dutch financial software company for small- and medium-sized businesses, faced challenges with its traditional desktop software model. The high cost and slow pace of shipping updates limited its ability to meet changing customer demands and regulations. To innovate faster and automate processes, SnelStart partnered with Microsoft to extend its services to the cloud.

Using Microsoft Azure, specifically Azure SQL Database and elastic database pools, SnelStart built a scalable SaaS solution. This allowed them to automate deployments, optimize performance and cost, and rapidly release new features. The results were significant growth, with the company adding about 1,000 new Azure SQL Databases per month, expanding from 5,500 to over 12,000 databases in just a few months without needing to expand its operations staff.
