Windows 10 opens a new way of working at African telco

Ethio Telecom, a major Ethiopian telecom provider serving more than 60 million subscribers, faced inefficiency and potential security gaps from a mixed environment of older Microsoft platforms, including XP through Windows 8.1. The company needed a more secure, standardized way to support critical systems such as billing, sales, and decision support, and turned to Microsoft Corporation and Windows 10 Enterprise.

Microsoft Corporation helped Ethio Telecom complete a phased six-month OS rationalization and upgrade to Windows 10 Enterprise, replacing legacy systems with one common platform. The rollout improved security with tools like Device Guard, BitLocker, and Windows Defender, simplified maintenance and support, and eliminated patching and antivirus headaches for 7,200 internal users, enabling a more efficient and affordable IT environment.
