Webjet uses blockchain to simplify transaction disputes in the travel industry

WebJet.com, a large Australian travel company, faced a costly challenge in the hotel booking ecosystem: complex, decentralized transactions often led to disputes and invoice reconciliation issues across multiple parties. Working with Microsoft Corporation and using Azure services, including Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure Storage, and Power BI, WebJet needed a way to reduce losses and streamline transaction handling.

Microsoft Corporation helped WebJet implement Rezchain, a blockchain-based reconciliation service running on Ethereum on Azure, with smart contracts that flag and resolve disputes near the time of booking. The result was a 90% reduction in losses tied to transaction disputes across WebJet’s internal brands, and the platform is now expanding to external travel partners to create broader industry efficiencies.
