Waggener Edstrom Communications (WE), a global communications agency, faced the challenge of securing sensitive client documents and emails. Their existing on-premises encryption solution was incompatible with mobile devices, cloud services, and secure external collaboration with clients other than Microsoft. To protect confidential information, they needed a modern solution and turned to vendor Microsoft Corporation for its Azure Information Protection service.

Microsoft implemented its cloud-based Azure Rights Management (Azure RMS) solution. This allowed WE to easily encrypt emails and documents for secure internal and external sharing, with full support for mobile devices and Office 365. The results were significant: deployment to all 700 employees was completed in days instead of the months required for an on-premises upgrade. This eliminated the need to manage infrastructure, reduced costs, and provided a simple way for the mobile workforce to safeguard content.
