A Microsoft Corporation Case Study
Clemson University wanted a more engaging way to teach writing and collaboration to STEM-focused students, and turned to Microsoft Corporation’s Minecraft: Education Edition and Xbox ecosystem as classroom tools. The challenge was connecting traditional composition assignments to students’ interests and future careers while building skills like communication, critical thinking, and teamwork.
Microsoft Corporation helped Clemson University implement Minecraft: Education Edition as an immersive, multiplayer learning environment with quests, guilds, and 3D building activities. The result was higher student engagement, stronger peer collaboration, and more creativity in assignments; students stayed more invested in projects, adapted more easily, and even took on leadership roles, with some describing the experience as a great way to explore creativity and collaborate.
