University prescribes Microsoft Surface Go for nursing students

Jacksonville State University needed flexible, laptop-equivalent devices for nursing students to use for clinical practice, computer-based ATI exams, and coursework involving diagrams and equations. The university also wanted to better prepare students for technology-heavy healthcare environments while supporting learners from varied socioeconomic backgrounds. Microsoft Corporation provided the Surface device family, including Microsoft Surface Go, Surface Book, Surface Pro, Surface Pen, and OneDrive for Business Online.

Microsoft Corporation implemented Surface Go for nursing students, paired with Classroom Pen and cloud storage through OneDrive for Business Online, so students could work anywhere and seamlessly restore files on replacement devices. The solution helped JSU standardize technology for its nursing program, improve classroom collaboration, and ensure students could complete ATI assessments that iPads could not support. JSU reported that all students in the nursing program now receive Surface Go devices, helping level the playing field and better prepare them for clinical settings that rely on electronic health records.
