University prepares students to change the century with virtual learning center

Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) faced the challenge of providing its large student and staff population with reliable, secure, and mobile access to academic resources. With limited physical study spaces and a decentralized IT infrastructure, the institution needed a way for students and teachers to connect from anywhere on any device while improving security and management controls.

To address this, Microsoft provided a solution built on Windows 10 Enterprise and Microsoft Office 365. This included a Virtual Student Computing Center powered by Hyper-V, which offered over 2,000 concurrent virtual seats, and System Center Configuration Manager for centralized management. The results provided students and staff with a standardized, mobile learning environment, eliminated queues for specialized software, and significantly enhanced security. Microsoft's technologies helped PolyU create a more secure, manageable, and agile IT environment that supports its educational mission.
