University broadcasts live research summit, expands access to knowledge with Microsoft Stream

The University of New South Wales needed a secure way to stream live events, meetings, and class sessions to students and staff. Its previous setup was fragmented and lacked the security, reliability, and ease of use required, especially for a major research summit and campus-wide communications. Microsoft Corporation, using Microsoft Stream, offered a better fit as part of the University’s Office 365 environment.

Microsoft Corporation implemented Microsoft Stream to broadcast live sessions, enable searchable recordings, and support live transcription and access through University IDs. The solution helped UNSW Sydney stream events securely to thousands of viewers, reduce travel costs, and improve collaboration across campuses. In one engineering course, it contributed to a 900 percent increase in student interactions per student per week, while also expanding participation in staff town halls and other university events.
