Unique and powerful use of cloud sets innovative new standards in the public sector

The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), tasked with promoting sports in the Kingdom, faced challenges with fragmented financial data from 27 sports associations and aimed to implement an open data platform. Using Excel and operational ERP reports provided insufficient insight for management decisions. They turned to Microsoft Corporation for a solution, leveraging Microsoft Azure cloud services.

Microsoft implemented a hybrid cloud solution using Azure Data Factory and Azure SQL Data Warehouse to centralize financial data and create Power BI reports. This provided executives with mobile access to critical financial insights, replacing inefficient spreadsheets. The solution also included a gamification element to encourage data sharing among associations. The BOC achieved its goals of operational efficiency and public data transparency, setting a regional example for digital transformation in the public sector.
