Ukraine International Airlines - Customer Case Study

Ukraine International Airlines, the flagship carrier and largest airline in Ukraine, needed to improve the security, reliability, and global performance of its customer-facing website, flyuia.com. The site, built on open source technologies like PHP, MODX, MySQL, and CentOS Linux, was suffering from severe denial-of-service attacks and poor performance for international visitors.

Microsoft Corporation, working with partner Comparex Ukraine, migrated the website to Microsoft Azure using services such as Azure App Service, Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Backup, Azure Storage, and Azure Virtual Network. The result was a virtual elimination of DOS attacks, up to 200% better site performance, and about $2,000 in monthly cost savings, while also helping Ukraine International Airlines increase foreign traffic, including a 16% rise in U.S. traffic.
