Case Study: ATTOM achieves faster, more scalable real estate data delivery with Microsoft SQL Server 2016 and Azure

A Microsoft Corporation Case Study

Preview of the ATTOM Case Study

Transforming real estate data services with hybrid-cloud technologies

ATTOM Data Solutions, a provider of a comprehensive U.S. property database, faced challenges with the growing volume and complexity of its data. Their time-consuming ETL processes were struggling to keep the data warehouse updated within a 24-hour window, limiting their ability to handle new data types and scale their business. To address this, they turned to vendor Microsoft Corporation and implemented a solution using SQL Server 2016.

Microsoft's solution involved deploying SQL Server 2016 in an on-premises cluster with plans to extend to a hybrid-cloud environment with Azure. This new architecture provided ATTOM with dramatic performance improvements, including ETL processes that ran up to 10 times faster, reducing some jobs from 24 hours to under 3 hours. It also enabled significant data compression, shrinking their data volume from 12.5 terabytes to 4.5 terabytes, and provided the scalability needed for future growth and new services.
