A Microsoft Corporation Case Study
Tokyu Housing Lease Corporation, a large Japanese real estate and property leasing firm, needed a better way to share knowledge across departments after merging several companies that had used different groupware systems. With Microsoft Corporation’s Yammer and Office 365, the company wanted to move beyond department-bound communication and create a more open, companywide information-sharing culture.
Microsoft Corporation implemented Yammer with a balanced rollout that encouraged executives and managers to lead by example while letting employees adopt it freely. Tokyu Housing Lease created themed groups such as BIZ Relation BOX, and usage grew as leaders actively posted and responded. The result was stronger cross-department knowledge sharing, higher employee motivation, and an open culture that helped break down organizational barriers; the company later planned to add Microsoft Teams to further improve work speed.
