Case Study: BPW Gruppe achieves faster, cost-effective IoT logistics tracking with Microsoft Corporation Azure

A Microsoft Corporation Case Study

Preview of the BPW Gruppe Case Study

The Logistics Industry Takes Off with the Internet of Things

BPW Gruppe, part of the BPW Group in Germany, needed a way to give consignors real-time visibility into shipments and better predict delivery times. Working with Microsoft Corporation and using Microsoft Azure services such as Azure Active Directory B2C and Azure Location Based Services, the company set out to build CargoTracer, an IoT-based freight tracking solution.

Microsoft Corporation helped BPW Gruppe implement CargoTracer on Azure, enabling location tracking, arrival-time prediction, and integration with ERP systems. The solution reached series production in about 18 months and began generating sales within a year; early customers improved logistics processes and lowered warehousing costs, while BPW also gained a faster, more cost-effective way to deliver new features.
