The Associated Press enhances coverage of Virginia elections with Microsoft Power BI

The Associated Press, a global news cooperative, needed a faster and more engaging way to visualize live election results for Virginia’s 2017 gubernatorial primaries. Working with Microsoft, AP used Power BI and Azure SQL Database to create interactive data visualizations that could help member news organizations publish timely local election coverage.

Microsoft Corporation helped AP build and deploy the solution in less than two weeks, including real-time data refreshes and interactive county-level maps and charts. The result was a responsive, cross-device election dashboard that sometimes updated faster than AP’s own monitoring systems and reduced manual work while enabling quicker, more compelling election-night reporting.
