Texas school district builds differentiated learning with cloud-based identities

YES Prep, a charter school system in Houston, faced the challenge of its teachers wasting significant time managing passwords and data across 30 to 40 different applications. This onerous administrative work, necessary for creating differentiated learning plans, took away from their focus on teaching and securing student data. They partnered with Microsoft Corporation and its partner Oxford Computer Group to find a solution using Microsoft Enterprise Mobility + Security.

The solution implemented by Microsoft involved moving to a cloud-based identity system using Azure Active Directory Premium and Microsoft Intune. This provided single sign-on for teachers, freeing up an estimated 100 hours of planning time per semester per teacher and eliminating weekly password reset tasks for IT. The Microsoft system also provided a more secure, FERPA-compliant environment for student data and became the foundation for a new student profile dashboard.
