Texas nonprofit leverages data-driven insights for $6.5 billion in education funding

Commit Partnership, a Texas education nonprofit focused on equity, had more than 16 million student assessment records it couldn’t store or analyze, limiting its ability to turn evidence into policy advocacy. Working with Microsoft Corporation and partners including DataKind and AKA, it used Azure Storage to unlock insights on literacy, income, and student success.

Microsoft Corporation helped build a scalable Azure environment for secure storage and analysis, while DataKind provided data science support. The result was district-level evidence that strengthened Commit Partnership’s legislative outreach and helped influence Texas House Bill 3, a near-unanimous education funding measure that will direct $6.5 billion to schools statewide.
