Telecom company taps into employee talents boosts engagement with Yammer social sharing

TDS Telecom, a large U.S. telecom company with 3,400 employees spread across 32 states, was struggling to keep its remote, field-based, and office-based workers connected. As the company grew through acquisitions and more work-from-home roles, TDS Telecom needed a better way to improve employee engagement, share knowledge, and build a stronger sense of community. It chose Microsoft Corporation’s Yammer, part of Office 365, to support these goals.

Microsoft Corporation implemented Yammer and integrated it into TDS Telecom’s intranet to enable companywide conversations, employee groups, and real-time knowledge sharing. The result was reduced email traffic, faster communication, stronger morale, and better onboarding and recruitment support; TDS also uncovered employee talents that helped launch its Instagram presence. Overall, the platform improved inclusion and retention by giving employees across the company a voice and direct access to colleagues and leaders.
