A Microsoft Corporation Case Study
The Water Resources Agency, Taiwan’s government water management organization, faced growing water-resource challenges from extreme weather and needed a secure way to modernize its IoT initiative. Using Microsoft Azure Stack, it aimed to support smart river management, flood prevention, and data-driven water operations while meeting government rules for confidentiality, local storage, and procurement.
Microsoft Corporation implemented a hybrid cloud solution with two Azure Stack instances, allowing the agency to keep sensitive data on-premises, store open data in the cloud, and manage remote backup from one interface. The platform improved predictive computing for flood estimation, cutting processing time by about half in local scenarios, while also enabling more open data APIs and reducing backup hardware costs.
