T-Systems delivers real-time insights from virtually any machine or device with IoT

T-Systems, a global leader in information and communication technologies, needed to help its customers overcome the complexities of implementing IoT solutions. The challenges included connecting a vast array of devices, ingesting and deciphering proprietary data formats in real time, and making that data available for analysis. To build a scalable platform to address this, they partnered with Microsoft and leveraged a suite of Azure products including Azure IoT Hub, Azure App Service, and Azure Event Hubs.

The solution Microsoft provided, developed with partner daenet, established a flexible, multitenant IoT platform on Azure. It uses a custom Protocol Adapter Service to standardize data and Azure services to ingest, process, and analyze information. This allows T-Systems to quickly onboard new customers and provide real-time insights through tools like Power BI. The results have been significant, with T-Systems acquiring 200 customers within just seven months of launch, accelerating innovation, and gaining a competitive advantage in the IoT market.
