Nuvoco, one of India’s largest cement manufacturers, faced the challenge of optimizing its vertical roller mill (VRM) grinding units to improve production yields while reducing power use and avoiding downtime. To address this, Nuvoco worked with Symphony AzimaAI and used Microsoft Azure-based predictive advisory services, including Azure IoT and machine learning.

Microsoft, through Azure and Azure Machine Learning, enabled Symphony AzimaAI to deploy predictive models and soft sensors that improved VRM performance. The solution helped Nuvoco achieve more than 2% higher throughput and over 5% lower power usage, translating into an incremental million-dollar output over three to four years per plant.
