Case Study: Stockrose saves millions in building operating costs with Microsoft Azure IoT and Power BI

A Microsoft Corporation Case Study

Preview of the Stockrose Case Study

Swedish firm uses IoT technologies to save energy, water, and millions of dollars for property owners

Stockrose, a Swedish property management firm, sought a more efficient approach to managing its 250 buildings and reducing substantial energy and water consumption costs. The challenge was the complexity of integrating diverse, siloed building systems and installing IoT sensors across a massive portfolio to enable conservation and fair utility billing. To overcome this, Stockrose worked with its partner, Eniga, to build a solution using Microsoft Azure services.

The solution implemented by Microsoft's partner utilized the Azure IoT platform, including Azure IoT Hub and IoT Gateway SDK, to create a scalable, technology-agnostic management layer over existing building infrastructure. This provided a single pane of glass for monitoring, enabling the detection of water leaks and detailed tracking of hot water usage. The result is projected savings of €40 million over 10 years for property owners through reduced consumption and predictive maintenance, while also empowering tenants to lower their utility bills and environmental impact.
