Startup protects nation’s oil and gas pipeline infrastructure with advanced machine learning

OneBridge, a provider of solutions for the oil and gas pipeline industry, faced the challenge of managing decades of disparate pipeline inspection data to predict failures accurately. Manually analyzing this data in spreadsheets was inefficient, and false predictions could lead to either extremely costly excavations or catastrophic, multi-million dollar spills. To address this, they partnered with Microsoft and developed their Cognitive Integrity Management (CIM) solution using Azure.

Microsoft's Azure provided the cloud infrastructure, security, and machine learning capabilities necessary to power the CIM solution. This allowed OneBridge to process inspection data in minutes instead of hours, significantly improving prediction accuracy to prevent both unnecessary digs and dangerous spills. The solution's value was demonstrated by identifying over a hundred previously undetected corrosion sites, and its enterprise-grade reliability on Azure was key to gaining the trust of major energy companies.
