Specialized insurance broker reduces program setup time from months to weeks

Lockton Affinity, a specialized insurance broker for affinity groups, needed a technology platform that could launch custom-branded insurance websites quickly, scale cost-effectively, and maintain strong security with minimal upkeep. Working with Microsoft Corporation’s Azure cloud platform and the Instec Policy system, the company set out to replace a slower, more maintenance-heavy approach that had been taking months to implement new programs.

Microsoft Corporation helped Lockton Affinity build a service-enabled platform on Azure using Azure Active Directory, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Web Apps, enabling reusable insurance services across programs. The result was a major acceleration in delivery: new sites could be launched in weeks instead of months, one portal was built in six months for a startup venture, and a large association site sold more than 12,000 policies in its first three months while scaling fourfold during a major event with no performance impact.
