Sogo & Seibu, a major Japanese department store operator, needed to break down siloed customer data and accelerate One-to-One Marketing. To do this, it worked with Microsoft Corporation and used Microsoft Azure, including Azure SQL Data Warehouse and Blob Storage, to quickly build a private DMP that could support more effective customer analysis and targeted outreach.
Microsoft Corporation helped Sogo & Seibu launch the platform in just two months, with BrainPad supporting system construction. The trial showed strong results: sales teams began using data more proactively, and one email campaign drove a 5% visit-and-purchase rate among recipients. The new DMP also improved the company’s ability to use purchase and behavioral data to personalize marketing and change how channels operated.
