Software Firm Relieves Customers of Infrastructure Worries with Cloud Offering

IFS, a global enterprise software vendor serving manufacturers and other asset-intensive industries, wanted to remove the burden of infrastructure management from customers using IFS Applications. The company needed a more flexible way to deploy its ERP and asset/service management suite, especially for production, training, testing, and short-term partner environments. Microsoft Corporation helped by providing Azure as the cloud platform for IFS Applications, with support for the Oracle-based stack the software uses.

Using Microsoft Corporation’s Azure services, IFS moved deployments into the cloud in just a couple of months and gave customers and partners an easy way to spin up and later decommission temporary environments. The result was faster time-to-value, lower deployment cost and complexity, and no need to buy or maintain on-premises hardware. IFS also reported strong performance in Microsoft Azure, noting that an eight-core virtual machine performed on par with a physical server.
