Singapore Airlines transforms customer loyalty with blockchain on Azure

Singapore Airlines Ltd wanted to create a more flexible loyalty experience for its KrisFlyer members, since many customers wanted better ways to redeem miles for everyday spending. Working with KPMG Digital Village, the airline turned to Microsoft Corporation’s Azure platform and blockchain technology to build KrisPay, a digital miles wallet that lets customers convert and spend air miles instantly at partner outlets.

Microsoft Corporation helped Singapore Airlines launch a secure, shared blockchain ledger on Azure using services including Azure App Service, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Functions, Azure Active Directory B2C, and Azure Key Vault. In just six months, the airline delivered the blockchain environment, mobile apps, and web portals, giving customers more redemption options, reducing unused miles, and strengthening loyalty while also improving partner reconciliation and customer insights.
