Sensoro, a Beijing-based IoT startup, faced the challenge of building a scalable big data business to bypass major data intermediaries in China. As a small company founded by data scientists, they needed a robust technical foundation to handle massive data from thousands of IoT sensors and lacked initial commercial experience. They turned to Microsoft and its Azure cloud platform for a solution.

By participating in the Microsoft Accelerator program, Sensoro gained crucial business guidance and cost-effective access to Azure. Microsoft Azure provided the vast storage, compute, and IoT-optimized services that became the technical backbone for Sensoro’s flagship Alpha Product Suite. This partnership enabled significant results, including a nearly $10 million project for Shanghai and life-saving smart city deployments. In Nanjing, their Azure-powered solution helped prevent fire-related fatalities at a major festival by identifying 50 incidents early, allowing Sensoro to grow from 3 to 97 employees and expand into 65 countries.
