A Microsoft Corporation Case Study
Renton Municipal Court, a government court in Washington with only 13 employees, faced a mandate to cut its budget by 23% while also contending with inefficient paper-based workflows and difficulty managing case documents. To address this, the court worked with vendor Microsoft Corporation and its partner Ramp Group to adopt a cloud-based solution called OCourt, built on the Microsoft Azure platform.
The Microsoft solution digitized the court's document management and workflows, moving to a nearly paperless system. This allowed for electronic filing, scheduling, and communication, which significantly streamlined operations. The results included processing 50 more cases per week, reducing an annual administrative task from 3 days to less than 1 day, and cutting the office supplies budget by $9,000. The court achieved its goal of greater efficiency with fewer resources.
