Seattle Against Slavery combats human trafficking and saves lives—at cloud scale

Seattle Against Slavery, a small nonprofit fighting human trafficking, needed a scalable way to reach victims, disrupt online exploitation, and help law enforcement target buyer demand. The organization used Microsoft Corporation’s Azure platform, including Azure Active Directory B2C, Azure App Service, Azure Cognitive Services, Azure Functions, and Azure SQL Database, to power its Freedom Signal solution and support its anti-trafficking outreach and enforcement work.

Microsoft Corporation helped Seattle Against Slavery build automated victim outreach and AI-powered chatbots that connect with potential victims and engage buyers online. The results included 10x greater outreach impact with the same resources, 70 people helped in the first year by REST, 15,192 buyer conversations across nine U.S. cities, and 7,679 deterrence messages delivered, all while improving efficiency and data security.
