Case Study: Scientific Drilling International achieves faster, more efficient asset reporting with Microsoft Power BI from Microsoft Corporation

A Microsoft Corporation Case Study

Preview of the Scientific Drilling International Case Study

Scientific Drilling International uses Power BI to optimize operations

Scientific Drilling International, a global drilling services company operating in more than 26 countries, needed a better way to track 76,000 assets and 168 million data points a year. Its team was relying on time-consuming Excel reports that could take eight hours to build and were difficult to update and share reliably. Scientific Drilling International turned to Microsoft Corporation and Power BI to support a more efficient inventory and reporting process.

With help from Microsoft Corporation partner USM Technology, Scientific Drilling International moved from Excel to Power BI in just six weeks, using Microsoft Flow, Office 365, and SharePoint to automate data handling and reporting. The result was a major productivity gain: one report now takes about 1.5 hours instead of eight, and the team can produce six specialized reports in that same time. Microsoft Corporation’s solution also improved decision-making and helped the company avoid unnecessary equipment purchases, creating clear cost savings.
