Preview of the Tucson Unified School District Case Study

School district moves forward on a trajectory for better learning outcomes with affordable devices and cloud environment

Tucson Unified School District, a large K-12 district serving more than 45,000 students across 89 schools, needed to modernize aging technology and avoid falling behind the education technology gap. Working with Microsoft Corporation, the district upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and began deploying Microsoft 365, Office 365 ProPlus, Azure Active Directory, Intune, and Power BI to support secure, adaptable learning and device management.

Microsoft Corporation helped Tucson Unified use in-place upgrades, cloud-based management, and co-management to reduce imaging time, cut hardware replacement costs, and lessen reliance on external contractors. The district now centrally manages about 50,000 devices, improves security with Windows 10 and Office 365 tools, and enables future-ready learning with Minecraft: Education Edition and Office apps; teachers and staff also benefit from remote updates and real-time collaboration, while Power BI makes student achievement data easier to share with families and the community.
