SAP on Azure ‘a real cost-saver’ for major South African government body

The Gauteng Provincial Legislature, a government body in South Africa, faced the challenge of needing an extensive hardware upgrade to support its critical SAP application amidst significant budget constraints. To address this, they partnered with Microsoft Corporation and utilized the Microsoft Azure cloud platform.

The solution implemented by Microsoft through their partner involved migrating the SAP environment to Azure. This move allowed the legislature to rapidly provision scalable hardware, eliminating procurement delays and leading to substantial cost savings. Microsoft's solution enabled the GPL to save an estimated 1 million Rand ($70,000) compared to a traditional hardware upgrade, while also improving system accessibility with zero latency.
