Case Study: Blue Frog achieves scalable, low-cost robot data management with Microsoft Azure

Robotics developers create a scalable, affordable cloud data management solution using IoT

Blue Frog, a small robotics company in France, needed a scalable and affordable cloud data management system for its Buddy companion robot. Their challenge was to build a solution with stable, predictable costs that would work with their business model for an affordable, one-time purchase product. They turned to Microsoft and its Azure platform to handle the data ingestion and storage requirements.

Microsoft implemented a solution using Azure Event Hubs to ingest high-frequency technical data and Azure Blob Storage for context data. This architecture, which also incorporated Azure Stream Analytics and Azure Functions, provided the necessary agility, scalability, and security. The result was a highly predictable and modest per-robot monthly cost, enabling Blue Frog to support its initial robots and scale for future growth while planning for an expanded ecosystem of developer services.
