Case Study: IBA PrideX achieves improved uptime and predictive maintenance with Microsoft Corporation Azure IoT

A Microsoft Corporation Case Study

Preview of the IBA PrideX Case Study

Raising the stakes in the fight against cancer using Azure IoT

IBA PrideX, a Belgian medical technology company, wanted to make proton therapy more widely available while reducing the high maintenance costs and complexity of its cancer-treatment equipment. Its challenge was to improve uptime and predictive maintenance across large, highly specialized devices with more than 100,000 parts. Microsoft Corporation helped support this effort with Azure IoT and Intelligent Edge.

Microsoft Corporation implemented Azure IoT to centralize device data, enable remote diagnostics, and build predictive maintenance analytics for IBA PrideX’s proton therapy systems. The result was faster fault analysis, reduced maintenance costs, and improved repair times, with more than 50 treatment rooms connected and data collection increasing by over 10x to about 50GB per day. IBA also improved uptime and treatment continuity for patients, helping avoid interruptions in cancer therapy.
