Professor bridges communication gap with students through Microsoft Teams

The University of Texas at Arlington, a large public research university serving nearly 60,000 students, needed a better way to support a diverse population with many remote learners. In Dr. Timothy Ponce’s English classes, some students were reluctant to ask for help because email felt too formal and other communication tools were cumbersome, so the university looked for a more accessible, familiar way to connect. Microsoft Corporation’s Microsoft Teams was used to help bridge that communication gap.

With Microsoft Corporation’s Teams, Dr. Ponce created a single hub for chat, collaboration, feedback, and file sharing, making it easier for students to contact professors and work with peers from anywhere. The result was stronger engagement, more comfortable communication, and improved collaboration on coursework and group projects, with Teams helping make education more accessible for UTA’s large and diverse student body.
