Petroleum company runs SAP on Azure, trims costs by 40 percent

GRISARD–Gruppe, a Swiss petroleum, bitumen and asphalt, and real estate company, needed to cut rising IT costs, improve SAP performance, and gain more flexibility in a price-sensitive market. Working with Microsoft Corporation and partner TPC AG, the company chose to migrate its SAP environment to Microsoft Azure using Azure Virtual Machines and related Azure services.

Microsoft Corporation helped GRISARD–Gruppe move SAP workloads to Azure in a weekend, creating a secure, scalable cloud setup. The result was a 40 percent reduction in SAP hosting costs, faster performance, and much quicker business processing: monthly billing dropped from a day and a half to two hours. The company also gained easier upgrades and better mobile access for service station employees.
