Peace Parks Foundation - Customer Case Study

Peace Parks Foundation, a South Africa-based conservation nonprofit, faced a severe poaching crisis that threatened rhinos and other wildlife across its protected areas. The organization needed a more scalable way to monitor camera-trap and sensor data in its “smart parks,” and turned to Microsoft Corporation and Azure to help improve anti-poaching operations.

Microsoft Corporation implemented an AI-enabled Azure solution that connected camera traps, sensors, and other field devices into a real-time monitoring system. The platform automatically analyzed images and videos, reduced false positives, and alerted rangers to high-risk activity, helping Peace Parks Foundation respond faster and more effectively. The result was a more proactive and cost-effective conservation model, with Microsoft Corporation also providing grants to further expand the smart parks initiative.
