The customer, OMD OM Group, a Russian advertising and marketing holding, faced challenges with its complex and costly IT infrastructure. They needed secure storage for a large volume of data, a backup data center for disaster recovery, and a way to decommission obsolete equipment. Microsoft, through its partner, provided a solution using Microsoft Azure and StorSimple.

Microsoft's solution involved implementing the hybrid storage system StorSimple, which automatically moved infrequently accessed "cold" data to Azure. This approach, combined with services like Azure Site Recovery for a backup data center, streamlined their infrastructure. The results for OMD OM Group included a significant reduction in data storage expenses by 40-60% and a much more resilient and manageable system.
