Omaha Public Schools transforms teacher coaching and instructional app adoption with a modern data platform

Omaha Public Schools, the largest school district in Nebraska with 80 schools and about 51,000 students, needed a better way to use data to support teacher development, student learning, and technology adoption. Its old on-premises data warehouse produced outdated, conflicting reports and limited the district to mostly quantitative data. Microsoft Corporation helped OPS modernize with Azure SQL Database and Power BI.

Microsoft Corporation implemented a flexible modern data platform that combined qualitative and quantitative insights, along with tools like Observation 360, the Coaching Dashboard, and an App Approval workflow. The district now uses near real-time dashboards for coaching, app management, and instructional decision-making; it logged 23,000 coaching visits in one year and 25,000 so far the next year, while also improving transparency and educator adoption across the district.
