NTT Communications deploys the “secured PC” across its organization with Microsoft 365

NTT Communications, a major telecommunications company in Japan, faced a difficult tradeoff between strong security and employee productivity. Its long-standing thin client environment helped protect sensitive data, but it also restricted usability, slowed logins, and made work inefficient—especially when employees were traveling or on unstable networks. The company turned to Microsoft Corporation and Microsoft 365, along with Windows 10 Enterprise, to create a more secure and productive “secured PC” environment.

Microsoft Corporation helped NTT Communications implement a thick-client secured PC system with built-in protections such as BitLocker, Windows Hello, and Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection, plus cloud services like Office 365, Teams, and Enterprise Mobility + Security. The result was a more flexible work environment that maintained high security while improving performance: productivity rose by 40% on the Shinkansen and by 24% in the office, and more than 95% of employees in the trial gave positive feedback.
