Nordic IT services provider adds more cost-efficient scalable storage with Windows Server 2016

Tieto Corporation, a major Nordic IT services provider, faced the challenge of managing exponentially growing customer data. Their traditional storage area networks (SAN) were expensive to scale and could not efficiently support the increasing demands for hyper-converged infrastructure. Tieto turned to Microsoft and its Windows Server 2016 platform to find a more cost-effective and scalable storage solution.

By implementing the Storage Spaces Direct feature from Microsoft, Tieto deployed a new hyper-converged infrastructure where storage and compute run on the same servers. The Microsoft solution is estimated to be 20-40% cheaper than expanding with a traditional SAN. This provided Tieto with highly available, easily scalable storage for its private cloud, allowing it to add capacity simply by adding nodes to the cluster.
